In the past I worked as a clinical vet tech, and I noticed that majority of the clinics' boarding animals would show signs of stress. Many times these animals would not completely relax until the end of their stay and by then it was time to go home. There were several times that certain animals would not calm down at all and would have to be put on Valium.

I have birds of my own and I know how they react to a new toy in their cage. So taking them to a completely different environment, for a week or longer, would put some birds into a state of panic and fright. I worked at a clinic where most of the boarders were also patients. So this was even more stressful becasue they typically feared the doctor.

I found this heartbreaking. I wanted to do something about it. So, I started watching some of these animals at their own home. This allows them to stay in their own safe environment. The only stress that they would experience was me or a new face. I figured this would be a little less stressful to endure than what I was witnessing at the clinic.

Luckily my theory worked. All of the birds that I have been privileged to watch have really enjoyed staying in their own environment while their owners were away. My clients are relieved when they have to leave knowing that their babies will be taken care of.

All the attention your exotic pet needs:

I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I have a Bachelors and Master's degree of Science and I am a registered animal technologist. I have experience with a variety of different areas of animal care. I have done everything from basic husbandry to invasive surgeries with all types of animals.

Working over the years with all kinds of animals has allowed me to become very versatile with my care giving. Animal behavior and body language is the key. Everything that I do revolves around the behavior I receive from the animal. When you tune into the animals behavior it gives you a different perspective on how they like to be cared for. I try to do just that.

I love all animals and have a special bond with birds. Most of my clients have other animals besides birds. I certainly will watch all animals. That has never been a problem. I am able to give special care to animals if needed. (medications, injection, etc..)

I enjoy helping out fellow bird lovers. My passion and love is caring and interacting with all animals. I can not get enough of animal behavior. I can spend time after time just watching how animals behave. I find it fascinating and relaxing at the same time.
